Mercedes, Nissan and Volvo. Not a bad mix.

Isn't that a Taurus?

Penske and Ford are making a push for the Mustang to be allowed as it will soon be sold down here.
V8 Supercars are considering all possibilities including a name change and dropping the V8 moniker.
Could go back to a category closer to what they had historically with turbo's against big V8's, that'd be nice.

The Nissans in the series are terrible. I guess if all the cars are terrible it would make for good racing.

I see two possible options: DTM/Super GT style cars and merge with them or go back to a more "Showroom Stock" style like the Continental Tires series were all makes and models are allowed ranging from FWD turbo imports to Mustangs to M3s to 911s.

If Nissan were to drop out and be replaced by a better racing team/car, it could get interesting. Mercedes has already expressed displeasure with team so we'll probably see some changes there and Volvo has a long and successful motorsport history so I'm sure we'll see good things.

nah I think they're both too extreme on either side of the fence.
DTM and Super GT cars would be too expensive for the privateer teams, and showroom stock would make them slower than the support series.

Couldn't they just use the Chevy SS?
And then Ford will introduce the falcon in the U.S., and they can use those too. Right? RIGHT!?

Please not DTM-style tube-framed cars. They're very impressive, but I have absolutely zero interest in them. The only carryover they have to production cars is the engine (only just), and if you're going to do that I'd rather see something like Group C. Prototypes running modified production engines (but not as iffy as Daytona Prototypes).
I vote just dig out the old Group A touring car rules. To this day, I can't think of anything better.

They're pulling out of local production, but will continue to sell cars there. Conceivably they could remain using cars based on the Fusion and SS, if the rules remain similar.
I doubt they'd be as popular though.

calling them terrible is a bit harsh considering they came 7th and 9th in the championship. meaning they beat half the rest of the field made up of Commodores and Falcons.
Erebus need to find some power out of the mercs though. They were almost always lagging behind the pack.

I dunno. Seemed like they were always lagging behind and crashing out. Maybe I'm over-stating it.
